Nip Hau Yin usually focuses on drawing and painting, and the media is mostly watercolor on paper. In her work, few patterns can be found, but the work shows a lot of attention to brush strokes instead. The effect created by watercolor when it meets water or salt is amazing, it can create the hard brush strokes. She thinks watercolor is a major medium to present the texture of leaves and the trunk. The brush can present the transparency and sense of space of the tree, which is her favorite subject to draw. The style of the work is related to graphic novels and influenced by Japanese comics. She seldom does abstract painting as she would like the audience to really look into a setting of the object and surmise the meaning behind content and the composition. Also, she seldom does realistic painting as the room for imagination is important for the audience.
