The work of Lui Chun Hong (Angus) creation is inspired by everyday life and experiences, even if it is just a small thing like simple conversation or a major event in life, such as the deaths of relatives; no matter it is a relaxing or heavy topic, as long as it is happening around him, it can become his inspiration and idea. Spirit and thinking are the areas he likes to explore, creation is inseparable from thinking while thinking creates self-values. He believes that there is no absolute right or wrong in this world, it depends on how and when you think.
Angus does not use only a single medium or material to create, such as illustration, ceramic, glass etc.. He believes that each material has their own characteristics and beauty. Angus encourages viewers not to appreciate artwork only with their eyes, but also use the five senses to fully feel the artwork, so that they can more fully feel appreciate the artist’s meticulousness.
“Life is full of amazement just like this book”. Angus breaks the general perception of the book and makes you feel surprised. Open this book in a circular fashion, resulting in a 360- degree treescape scene with animals. A circle, such as this book can represent a cycle. The seasons of the year make a cycle. There are 12 months in a year, therefore he made 12 pages. Then he divided it into 4 parts, 3 pages with one color represent one season. This book is not used for reading but for viewing as an object. “Life is only once, enjoy your life.” The book can be remade but in our lives, there are no second chances in life. The title “Life” is impressed on the cover with texture by engraving. He encourages viewers to touch and feel it, just like we need to actively feel our life. Only the letter “e” is italicized to indicate life is playful like this book. “Life” not only brings you a surprise but also reflects views of life.

Angus questions what is real. And where the idea “One and Three Chairs” by Joseph Kosuth came from. In our everyday life, we trust and rely on what we directly see. But can we fully understand reality? If our beliefs depend only on what comes through our eyes, is it real and true? Angus disguised that the objects are strawberrys. They observe a triangular form with some prominent organic elements at the top. The surface is frosted to present dotted patterns. Sometimes what we see is not true. The world should be observed from different perspectives with different methods when we need to judge and distinguish the truth. That is how we understand reality to the utmost.
Day and Night
Taijitu is also known as the yin yang symbol which representing the belief of everything in the universe consists of two forces that are opposing but complementary. Taijitu is created by black and white color with black and white teardrops, which form a symmetrical balance. When looking at Taijitu, it is easy to understand day and night, which has the same meaning with it. White is representing “day” and black is representing “night” with the colors we can see in the reality. The day goes to the night and the night must go back to the day, this is a cycle in our everyday life which is the perfect harmony of our world. The picture is divided into two parts which creating the view of day and night. He creates the view of “day” by using a sun with red, yellow and orange colors with light blue sky; he creates the view of “night” by using the yellow moon and stars with dark blue. The view of the night’s part is reversed, so the audience can turn it upside down for a look. Angus creates two impressions under one theme. One piece uses glass confetti to form the picture which looks like a painting. The other piece creates as the style of glass mosaic by using bullseye glass but not stained glass, because he hopes all the materials of the work are glass and let audience appreciate the characteristics of glass transmission.
