Kwok Yau Hing builds a world of fantasy and imagination based on reality. Her favourite way to depict this world is by employing narratives: using stories to illustrate the world. Kwok’s inspiration mainly comes from the observations of her daily routines: people, objects and the environment surrounding her. Symbols are abundant in her work, every element exists for a reason, and each carries diverse meanings. Most of her stories do not have a fixed closure, as the symbolic elements and open-endedness allow the audience to develop their own unique interpretation, which is crucial for her story.
