Fan Yik Kiu (Vicki) is interested in exploring the visual representation of philosophical terms. The terms will be more accessible to the audience through the visual elements Vicki employs, which is able to puzzle together different concepts to achieve a more comprehensive explanation of the ideas. She would objectify the characteristics of hidden objects in the aim of understanding the society. Harmony is key to Vicki’s art and she believes in the human need of simplicity, understanding and aspiration. She tends to purify emotion to achieve essentialism.
Usually, Vicki’s art gives a sense of softness and resilience. Being nurtured in the context of Hong Kong, she seeks to realise self-consciousness with her accumulated experience under the influence of both the east and the west. Her artworks range from 2D works to 3D works, including painting, sculpting and paper-cutting. Currently, she is exploring traditional materials, including ink, clay, paper, oil paint and acrylic. The versatility of the characteristics of paper material interests her a lot.

She, not her 她又不是她
Meimei is a good photographer who helped me take pictures. So, the artist became part of the work now. I appreciate her very much but this “her” is not me.
Boun viaggio a Sacro Monte di Varallo
Oil on paper
When in Italy, I was invited to school fieldtrip to somewhere I do not know beforehead. I only know the place after I paint it. 在意大利應邀去學校一天研習之旅，未去前一無所知，之後畫出來就知道去了哪裡了。
The Front of a Hand and the Back of It 手心和手背
Ink on creased yunlong paper
The same piece of paper is folded once. The front side and the back side became contradiction, with similar creases but different scenery. I did not design these landscapes, they are done by accident. 原本的同一張紙，摺了一痕後, 出現了違反原則的正面和背面，印有相似的跡卻不一樣的景象。我沒有創作這些風景，它們由意外產生。
The white mask
Found objects on wood panel
In response to the contemporary gallery setting, I created this white on white on white painting.
