Having a connection is good for the soul, which verifies the existence of a person. Building the connection between Chong Po Ching (Florence) and her works is a record of her life. Through her artwork, she brings out one interesting point by using a simple form to let people feel the exuberant possibilities of materials. Her inspiration usually comes from nature, as she believes nature can remind us to slow down, pay attention to our surroundings and reveals the connections between self and the environment. Reviewing the previous work she created, she found that they are mostly related to the nature of their materials. She likes making numerous tests to explore the possibilities of that medium. For her, the outcome is important, but the process is often the precious treasure she gained in each of her works. Along with her growth, she has tried different media, such as wood, ceramics and sculpture. Recently, she is focusing on glass making. Glass is a fascinating media and working with it is a turning point to her.
Glass and wood
Cairns are the basic element in this work, I kept thinking about the relationship between cairns and connection. Since cairns are made by a crowd of strangers, cairns become the connection of these strangers, and also the connection between them and nature.
For blowing glass, we often add glasses outside the glass bubble to shape what we want. In this work, I want to explore the flexibility and possibility of glass which form something else inside the glass bubble. I used an awl and inserted the glass bubble from the outside. It turns out an interesting line. The line touches another side of the glass. It makes a connection.
Glass and Mirror
Line, colour and texture formed by pate de verre technique are used to show the fragility and flexibility of glass. Glass beads are fused into simple bowl forms to display the rare texture. The lips on the pieces are crude, uncontrollable and extremely fragile. It brings out the unusual side of the glass. People might not even consider them to be made of glass at first glance.

This is a work related to my emotional states within these few months. Emotion is not stable recently since the problems of my family and school projects. Making glass can help me express the emotions and release the pressure.
