Chong Hing Ki is an artist who works with collages. She collects, assemble, combines and transforms fragments into a new reality, expressing her response to her complex sense-of-place in the world. Not only does she believes that collage is the most effective way to represent her visual thinking, the images she creates in this body of work are also a form of aesthetic play and experimentation on the medium.
Pattern, colour, natural and urban elements take crucial roles in her work. Chong intends to create a work not only with cutouts and found images but also with paint. She combines her obsessions in decorative patterns and the colour gold with her strong interest in establishing a personal relationship with each piece. In addition, Chong is fascinated by the possibility of combining objects, she works hard to transform and place fragment in unexpected ways, with the intention to invite the audience to invent their own narratives through her work.
