The story of “繁” is starting from the cover that is made of the reddish-brown wood with Chinese character – 䌓. The wood blocks, sticking by magnets, produce a Huarong Path Klotski puzzle pattern, so readers can change the structure of that character. When turning over to the next page, a Chinese character will be showed and the traditional form will change to be simplified due to the pop-up methods, inspiring the audience the behind meaning.
“Cubes” includes three transparent acrylic glue cubes that are smaller and smaller. The motion of the middle cubes will be different at every time as like the uncertainty electronic position, leading the audience to rotate it repetitively to satisfy their curiosity. The audiences not only remember this artwork easily but also can explore more idea. Simple is the best. The structure of the “Cubes” is pure and simple, providing a larger imaging space for the audience. It provides an associated imagination.

The pop-up book, named “䌓” that means the Traditional Chinese Character, explains the importance of the traditional Chinese character and the influence of the simplified Chinese character through a story, as well as, 11 characters were chosen to build that story. When turning over to the next page, a Chinese character will be showed and the traditional form will change to be simplified due to the pop-up methods. Until the last page, there is still no ending line of the Jiugongge. It is a hope that everyone can keep the Chinese culture in their own mind.
The work “Cubes” made of transparent acrylic glue includes three cubes that are smaller and smaller. After the accurate calculation, the smaller cube can fit into the bigger one. The middle cube can be rotated due to the hand motion. Since I just was a child, I imaged our space was in a box which was from another space. The box would be covered by another bigger box. And the bigger box also would be covered by another bigger box infinitely. Now, I put my idea into the cubes. Let us image we are the smallest cube. We can move but in a limited range; we can see for far away but not touch. It shows we are very tiny.

In the new generation, the smartphone becomes necessary for the teenagers even the kids, leading disconnection to each other. Therefore, Hasbro held a competition in 2017 D&AD New Blood, that theme designing a toy help people to rebuild the true relationship without the digital connection. Even though the digital functions from the smartphone was not allowed for applying in the competition, we designed to use the light for our smartphones as the controllers to play the Light Hockey. That rule is similar to air hockey, so we hope the interactive toy can recall teenagers’ childhood memory and not be addicted to the virtual world. After that, bump to connect everyone!
