Honours Project
TANG Shu Wing

Tang Shu Wing (Josh) focuses on sculpture, ceramics and installation with natural materials such as wood, bamboo and clay. He turns his hands into his most flexible tools by creating detailed depiction on objects. He is interested in the beauty of wabi-sabi affect by the environment of AVA campus.

While creating installation works at AVA, I faced quite a lot of limitations and they made me reflect on the relationship between AVA and its students. The campus provides creative space for students and students make sure its natural environment is not destroyed. The relationship is alienated but symbiotic. I chose the bomb shelter, which represents the past of AVA, as the installation site. I weaved a temporary space with bamboo pole there.
