Some local customs remain nowadays and turn into annual festivals, which are actually part of our tradition derived from ancestors and history. The theme of Da Jiu Festival, which is a custom in my local area, runs through my paintings. Incense burning, which is commonly associated with religious beliefs or cultural rituals, relates how I inherit traditional culture in my works.

In the past, burning was the way to destroy things into ashes; however, the burnt marks left on my paintings nowadays enrich my works visually and conceptually
