The idea of Flower Qee came from my observation and imagination about happiness. I put different elements related to happiness in my Qee design. In my opinion, if we want to be a smart person, we need to know how to make ourselves happy first. So, my design tells people that happiness improves our life.

I believe most people read books and so do I. Reading helps us understand our world more than we can imagine. I enjoy drinking tea when I am reading. I found that the way we read is similar to how we drink–slowly, so as to enjoy. There seems to be an invisible linkage between reading and drinking: books are like the container of knowledge, and we can observe and absorb from the pages just like how we drink. Therefore, I want to create an artwork that can express what reading really means to us.

I like a kind of fish called carp. In Chinese and Japanese culture, carp takes an important role: carp represents propitiousness and people believe that carp can bring good luck to them, so it became one of the famous elements in Chinese New Year. In Japan, it shares a similar meaning as in Chinese culture. Moreover, Japanese believe carp bring better growth for children. They will hang up carp flags when they have a newborn baby boy. I am inspirited by carp and I would like to make a pictorial seal about carp. I think the gesture of carp jumping out of the water is beautiful so I tried to depict that on my seal.
