A for Angel
45 x 26 cm
This is an illustration from my storybook project named A for Angel which was inspired by the 7. 0 earthquake in Jiu Zhaigou, China, on August 8, 2017. The story demonstrates safety rules during and after the quake. To be imaginative, I chose to answer the question “who will teach the knowledge to the children?” differently in my illustrations. And my answer is Andrew, an angel who teaches three naughty kids of safety rules to evacuate from an apartment. Angels in my story aren’t holistic figures with a pair of wings but a group of old gentlemen in transformable suits, wearing gleamy top hats and carrying around an umbrella. Although the kids cannot see Andrew, he guides and protects them with his magic transformable outfit and accessories. By changing those magic items into helpful tools, the angle successfully corrects the children’s unsafe practices and leads them to the refuge area.
