WONG Ching In, Janet

WONG Ching In, Janet is a Hong Kong artist who explores mixed-media installation. Her work encompasses found objects, sounds and moving images, which often directly engages the audience.

WONG operates similarly to a cook, taste-testing through the process, exploring in her own universe for a new dish, which entails physics, philosophy and spirituality. Referencing psychological and philosophical knowledge to support her fascination, she creates works by revealing the unseen through sounds and visual objects. She records and composes sound of food and internal sound of bodies, collects and creates visual objects in relation to it, and experiments with the combinations of them.

She creates connections and interactions between the viewers, the artworks and the space-time. She aims to enhance the viewers' awareness of the world around them. Her works are based on perceptions on various aspects and personal biological reaction.

– David Hume
