Roland Barthes’s A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments is my major inspiration of this series of conceptual jewelry. By making jewelry using private conversation records, my work explores an ambiguous state of mind mixing detachment and attachment, aloofness and passion. I examine my past intimate relationship soberly and at the same time I review it sentimentally. To the outsiders, the languages of lovers are deconstructed into bare visual elements and become meaningless. However, a sense of intimacy, tenderness, and obsession can still be reflected by other qualities beside language.
